Every Heart Deserves To Beat
Nyla's Journey
My name is Tori Brown, and I am the proud mother of four incredible children: Brandon (13), Nyla (12), Nasir (5), and Zion, who will join our family in mid-February 2025. Born and raised in Tennessee, my journey as a mother has been a testament to faith, resilience, and the power of love. This journey took a profound turn when Nyla, at just one month old, was diagnosed with Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD), a severe congenital heart condition. The road ahead was daunting, filled with countless hospital visits, four major heart surgeries, and the looming need for a heart transplant. When Nyla was 4 years old, we were blessed beyond measure to receive the Berlin Heart, that bridged Nyla to a successful heart transplant. A miracle that changed our lives forever. Every day, I thank God for the gift of life and the strength He has given us to overcome the impossible. Inspired by our experiences, I founded the Nyla's Heart Foundation to give back to families facing similar battles. Our mission is to support those who are walking the same challenging path we have traveled, offering hope, resources, and a community of love. With faith as our foundation, we are committed to making a difference—one heart at a time.

Our Mission

At Nyla's Heart Foundation, our mission is to provide unwavering support and resources to families affected by pediatric heart conditions worldwide. Inspired by the journey of Nyla Guthrie and her courageous battle with Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD), we strive to ensure that Every Heart Deserves To Beat. Through financial assistance and emotional guidance, we aim to alleviate the burdens faced by pediatric heart patient families, advocating for improved healthcare and compassionate care. Our foundation is committed to fostering a community of hope, resilience, and empowerment, standing as a beacon of light for all those touched by the challenges of pediatric congenital heart defects.

DID YOU KNOW!

A large percentage of pediatric heart transplants are performed on children with CHD, significantly higher than the proportion seen in adults with the same condition. About 50% of pediatric heart transplants being performed due to CHD; however, these children often face more complex challenges during the transplant process due to the structural abnormalities of their hearts. Like all heart transplant candidates, children with CHD are placed on the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) list to await a suitable donor heart.

Support Nyla's Heart Foundation by purchasing comfortable and stylish apparel. All proceeds will go towards helping cardiac families in need of our help.
